All hands on deck for planting day

Much activity was enjoyed in the lovely new garden at Rockdale House Care Home on Thursday, 28th April, when a group of volunteers of all ages, came on site to help with the planting.  The volunteers included residents’ family members, local preschool children and members of the business community, overseen by Amanda Hopkins, garden designer and her colleague, Becca.

The garden has been designed by Amanda Hopkins, who has kindly volunteered her time, not only to design the garden, but also to produce the planting plan and order the plants. Residents, residents’ families and staff will enjoy the garden for many years to come.

Ros Ward, Rockdale’s previous care home manager initiated the project and contacted the Head Gardener of Penshurst Place for advice, which prompted the introduction to Becca and then to Amanda – both garden designers.  Amanda amazingly took up the challenge of creating the garden for Rockdale.

We have received generous donations towards the project, for which we are very grateful.
